Nielsen Mobile, the world's largest provider of syndicated consumer research to the telecom and mobile media markets, is seeking a senior quantitative executive to manage the Measurement Science )MS) team for our Flowshare family of products. Nielsen Mobile is a service of The Nielsen Company, the world's largest and oldest market research firm.   Our Measurement Science staff supports the product management team in the design and execution of measurement methodologies for our syndicated information products.  The position is based at Nielsen Mobile headquarters in San Francisco, California.
             
This position will be responsible for managing a small team of quantitative professionals dedicated to measuring consumers’ subscriptions to digital connections )wireless, wireline, video, broadband) with internal, proprietary technologies.   The Flowshare team owns the creation and maintenance of measurement methodologies for estimates of market share, share of sales, and customer churn by service provider across the services listed above.  Team members are responsible for the choice of sampling and weighting methods, the design and calculation of end-user metrics, and ongoing accuracy validation – and will supervise their high-quality implementation.
 
This position is one of a small number of platform leaders within Measurement Science, and will work with a very high level of autonomy and minimal supervision.  The role is the main point of contact for the Product Leadership, Production, and System Development teams for products within his or her responsibility, and will be an expert resource for customer account teams requiring assistance with analyses based on the products within his or her domain.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Defining and implementing measurement methodologies for platform that ensure products with high quality, integrity and value
  • Building and implementing tools that enable the collection of high quality source data and the evaluation of end-product quality
  • Managing a team of skilled individual contributors and managers to execute work streams required to fulfill responsibilities
 
SKILLS:
  • Methodology Design – designing metrics, experiments, tests for information products
  • Building and maintaining longitudinal primary research panels
  • Advanced application of statistical methods
  • Ability to form well-reasoned, quantitative fact-based assessments and make decisions  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong ability to work as part of a cross-functional team
  • Strong people management skills, including ability to hire and motivate team and evaluate skills and contributions
 
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in quantitative methods for market research
  • Minimum of five years of experience managing a team of quantitative professionals
  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field )statistics, mathematics, economics, finance) with Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience in telecommunications domain is a plus
