Sonjoy Chakravorty is a commercially driven strategy and business leader with 14+ years of experience building and scaling high-growth ventures across financial services, digital commerce, and MSME markets in India and Southeast Asia.
Currently serving at Amar Bank, Sonjoy leads vendor management and media distribution. He drove measurable marketing impact, delivering significant brand awareness growth while simultaneously reducing digital marketing spend through rigorous channel-level performance optimization. His work in formalizing brand investment decisions, including developing the bank's first-ever Brand Sponsorship and Offline Branding Playbooks, reflects a disciplined, data-backed approach to marketing effectiveness.
Prior to Amar Bank, Sonjoy served as VP of Demand at ULA, a B2B e-commerce platform, where he consolidated demand channels into a unified strategy that delivered a 3x margin improvement while managing ~70,000 monthly transacting customers. He also conceptualized and scaled Teman Ula — a social commerce channel that reached ~50,000 monthly active resellers and achieved contribution margin profitability within a year, with 99% digital order adoption.
Earlier, as VP – Business (Indonesia) at Meesho, Sonjoy held full P&L ownership, scaling the operation to 15,000+ daily transactions within four months and achieving CM2+ profitability in five. At Tokopedia, he built three new business verticals from the ground up — achieving 60% MoM GMV growth and a 30%+ improvement in app and website conversion rates while leading a 30-person team.
Across his career, Sonjoy has consistently operated at the intersection of data, growth, and business model design — with deep fluency in the SEA consumer and MSME landscape. He brings to the MMA Smarties jury a rare combination of performance marketing rigour, P&L accountability, and regional market expertise, making him well-positioned to evaluate work that is not only creatively compelling but demonstrably effective.
Sonjoy holds an MBA in Marketing & Strategy from FMS Delhi and a B.E. in Computer Science from NSIT, University of Delhi.
