Measurement Science Analyst: Nielsen Mobile
Nielsen Mobile, the world's largest provider of syndicated consumer research to the telecom and mobile media markets, is seeking a Senior Analyst to work on the Measurement Science team for the Consumer Insights family of products. Nielsen Mobile is a service of The Nielsen Company, the world's largest and oldest market research firm. This position is based at Nielsen Mobile headquarters in San Francisco, California with a possiblity of the right candidate working remotely.
The Measurement Science Analyst (4-6 years experience)– Consumer Insights will be a part of the Online Bill Panel team and play a crucial role in developing algorithms for creating reported metrics, as well as developing Quality Control (QC) measures for the products. The products supported by this group collect large amounts of consumer telecommunication data and provide independent spend and usage metrics widely distributed among the telecommunication and media/content industries. The Senior Analyst will also develop products based on survey data collected by the Consumer Insights team.
The Senior Analyst level is the first level of management in MS. The Senior Analyst might manage a product team or function within MS or have expertise in a product or special skills. Often a Senior Analyst will lead the QC efforts for a product group. The Senior Analyst will use their acquired knowledge of the product and/or advanced quantitative and data handling procedures to improve the product. Senior Analysts should be able to work independently acquiring and managing projects, seeking direction when needed. They will train and direct more junior team members.
A fully functioning Senior Analyst should manage resources to meet client needs. This includes working closely with Product Management to monitor their plans and understand requirements, designing and implementing QC processes, and overseeing QC for the product or function.
The Senior Analyst may be responsible for developing and maintaining prototypes for new products. The Senior Analyst will provide support to the Systems Development team during the Production Development phase of new products, helping to define new processes and ensuring that the Sys Dev implementations meet Product Management requirements.
The position requires an educational background in a quantitative field and at least 4 years work experience in data analysis and research.
Responsibilities
- Develop expertise in the data structures and processes involved in creating product output
- Develop algorithms to create new metrics and new products
- Develop and implement Quality Control systems around new and existing products
- Manage projects in coordination with Product Management and System Development teams
- Manage the transition of fully developed processes to the Production team
- Lead and train junior analysts
Requirements
- 4-6 years relevant experience
- BA or BS degree in a quantitative field
- Demonstrated understanding of statistical methods
- Demonstrated ability at problem solving and algorithm design
- Excellent analytical skills; ability to analyze and extract information from complex data; analyze trends; identify anomalies
- High attention to detail
- Expert knowledge of SQL (e.g. cursors, dynamic SQL), Excel (e.g. macros, pivot tables)
- Ability to operate and thrive in a fast-paced environment of constant deadlines
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of SAS, R+, SPSS
- Experience with survey data, weighting techniques
- Masters degree in a quantitative field
