Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions: Sales Manager, U.S. Mobile Advertising (New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco or Seattle)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Want to take on two of the biggest and most entrepreneurial business opportunities in the industry? Advertising and Mobile are two of Microsoft’s most important bets in some of today’s most dynamic markets. We're looking for a star U.S. Sales Manager with an outstanding track record in digital advertising sales management and online/emerging/mobile media sales to help us build and scale a profitable new business for Microsoft.

The Sales Manager will drive Microsoft’s mobile advertising business in the U.S. working closely with Microsoft’s Digital Advertising management and ScreenTonic, the Paris-based mobile advertising pioneer acquired by Microsoft in May 2007. In the role, you will setup and manage Microsoft’s U.S. mobile advertising sales effort, aggressively growing media revenue through multiple sales channels (agency direct, advertiser direct and referrals from Microsoft’s digital advertising sales force) and building strong industry relationships with advertising clients, publishers, complementary Microsoft groups and mobile/media industry players.

The role can be based out of New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago or Seattle.

Key commitments will include:
* Drive to exceed U.S. Mobile Advertising fiscal year revenue targets
* Develop mobile sales strategy for U.S. market, manage sales effort and advise Microsoft senior management on market opportunities, sales positioning, use of resources and strategic planning
* Oversee U.S. mobile advertising sales team, develop relationships with key clients, manage agency relationships, and work across Microsoft teams to deliver mobile advertising campaigns successfully
* Act as mobile advertising expert and evangelist to Microsoft digital advertising sales teams
* Drive revenue generation, reviewing and analyzing performance, driving actions for improvement, and implementing efficient and productivity enhancing tools and processes
* Ownership of monthly sales forecasts, planning and budgeting, and presentation of regular annual, mid-year and long-range plans

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Comprehensive knowledge of advertising media sales including 8+ years of sales and sales management experience; New Media experience preferably online with mobile content focus a plus
* Proven experience setting up and growing an advertising sales team, successfully building and growing advertising sales revenue
* Highly entrepreneurial, self-sufficient and able to work independently to successfully grow and foster long term client relationships based on quality service
* Able to act as a strong Evangelist for Microsoft with the industry, educating and convincing clients about the benefits of mobile advertising as a new media
* Familiarity, relationships and proven connectivity with publishers and advertisers in market place, including regional and/or global brand level clientele; mobile operators a plus
* Ambitious with advanced negotiating skills and experience on business, corporate, legal and account management issues at a senior level
* Team player with a positive and dynamic personality, excellent communication and presentation skills, strong planning and organizational capabilities
* Operational focus - get things done - and result driven
* University degree required, MBA a plus
