Background

The Advanced Ad Solutions group at AT&T connects advertisers with 150 million AT&T customers across the mobile, broadband, IPTV and local search platforms of the world’s largest telecommunications company.  We’re looking for a Director of Emerging Media to spearhead AT&T’s approach to developing the mobile ad marketplace.  S/he will develop and execute innovative mobile ad sales strategies as they relate to AT&T’s diverse mobile capabilities: ATT.net mobile web portal (fka MEdia Net), Plusmo smartphone sports apps, YELLOWPAGES.com mobile app, mobile coupons, 2D barcodes and more.  S/he will be a recognized leader in the mobile industry with strong sales relationships across key verticals including client advertisers and agencies.  S/he will spend 2/3 of time on selling and 1/3 of time in a support capacity per the description below.

Job Description

Responsible for developing the mobile ad sales strategy within AT&T’s Advanced Advertising Solutions group and directing the execution of that strategy.

Strategic responsibilities will entail providing direction to all levels of the sales force to consultatively sell mobile ad products to advertisers and agencies nationally.  Responsible for business strategy, identifying key opportunities, market creation through key industry contacts, and coordinating efforts around mobile ad sales and service.  Responsible for pre-post sale strategy/process and funnel-management for mobile advertising on a national basis.

Direct sales responsibilities consist of managing programs for AT&T clients across several verticals.  This role will personally educate high level clients on mobile media trends as well as manage these key relationships to bring significant advertising spend to AT&T as part of their mobile media programs. 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for enabling new revenue generation for mobile ad products via direct work with the Senior Vice President, Regional Vice Presidents, Strategic Account Managers and clients including proposal strategy, attending sales presentations as a subject matter expert, and assisting in post-sale optimization and client-service.
  • Develop and manage funnel for mobile ad products including determining ideal client profile for products, identifying largest endemic opportunities, communicating and crafting large dollar opportunities with National teams.
  • As a recognized leader in the industry, drive new business revenue growth by assessing market trends through network contacts and working with SVP and RVPs to determine activity/behavior goals for sales team for our mobile ad products:
  • Serve as the sales leadership expert as product planning occurs to ensure that AAS will be positioned as a leader in the industry long term. 
  • Once products are sold, work with sales and client service teams to ensure campaign success and set strategy for optimization.

Skills

  • 2-5 years of direct experience in mobile advertising, promotions and marketing.
  • 6-10 years in marketing, media sales, ad planning, brand marketing.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead and manage projects and teams
  • BA/BS required, MBA preferred
  • A proven track record in the development and implementation of major marketing initiatives including trade digital advertising and promotions
  • Highly creative, proactive and execution oriented, able to consistently contribute to new ideas and identify opportunities, then lead them to fruition.
  • Strategic thinking, solid organizational skills and the ability to troubleshoot and provide successful resolution
  • An enthusiastic, motivational management style, with the ability to win the credibility and confidence of the executive team, advertisers and staff.
  • A demonstrated ability for providing strategic and creative direction
  • An outstanding ability to build consensus
  • An ease and expertise at interfacing with senior management both internally and at the client level
  • Exceptional oral and written skills
